When I first got an email from the Campus Quilt Company asking if I would like to host a giveaway and also have a quilt made for me for a review - honestly, I couldn't believe it! But...it really was for real! And let me tell you - I could not be more impressed with this company and their customer service.
Now, what kind of quilts does the Campus Quilt Company make? Well, they make quilts (and pillows) out of t-shirts, sweatshirts, baby clothes, socks, ties, hats...any clothes/fabric that holds a special meaning to you. (they even make photo quilts!) Instead of these items sitting in a box in a closet - you will receive a handmade quilt comprised of these special items.
I knew exactly what I wanted Campus Quilt to make for me. My little sister is a Junior in high school this year, and she has complied quite an array of t-shirts from cheerleading, volleyball, school clubs, etc. So.... I decided that I would have her pick out some of her shirts and I would have the wonderful people at Campus Quilt make them into a quilt for her...

I decided that I would have her pick out some of her shirts and I would have the wonderful people at Campus Quilt make them into a quilt for her...
In the mail, I received a "kit" composed of an order form, pre-paid shipping label, sample fabric (for backing/sashing), number stickers (which you stick on each shirt to show how you'd like the quilt layed-out, and a {large} mailing envelope. So, all I had to do was fill out the form and put it into the pre-paid envelope and drop it off at the UPS store. Couldn't be simpler.
And, in less than 2 weeks (how's that for excellent turn-around time?!}...
These shirts...
...turned into this amazing quilt!
I am still in awe of its quality!! I chose black cotton for the backing as well as for the sashing (the fabric border around each "t-shirt square"...sashing is an add-on option). Getting the sashing is really worth it: adds that special "touch." :) Also, I chose the "swirl" design for the stitching.
My quilt (or I should really say "my sister's quilt") is a "Stadium Quilt" {16 squares}. But, you can choose from 9-49 squares! Also, don't forget that you can have them use both the fronts & backs of the shirts (I did!)
Thank you!! Campus Quilt for this gorgeous quilt! I know my sister is going to love this. {saving for Christmas!}

If I was able to get a quilt made, I'd use clothes and other fabric swatches from my grandmother, my mother, myself and my daughter and make her a generational quilt with 3 holding spots for her to add her son/daughters fabric swatch as well. What a beautiful and wonderful keepsake. So special <3

ReplyDeleteI would get a nine square Wee Quilt with a wall hanging sleeve. I lost my childhood best friend (my kitty, Kit-Kit, since I was 6 years old) a year and a half ago. Ever since then, I haven't really been able to move on. I have kept all of her things such as her collar, name tag for the collar, wire toy, etc. It would be so wonderful to be able to create a quilt with all of these items for me to cherish forever and help me move on.
