{sorry!}

Hi everyone! Okay - so sorry that I haven't been able to post the winners of the giveaways yet. I also have some more reviews and giveaways to post too. We had a brief thunderstorm the other day & a short, quick power outage. Well, that small period of time without power caused my computer to go crazy! It was in the middle of downloading a Windows update when the power went out, and even though the generator kicked in - it was too late. I'm thinking that something happened due to interrupting the update... I don't really know what happened, but it just started working literally 15 minutes ago, so I am finally able to get back on my *precious* computer :)

Also, today is my birthday! (yay!) - so we do have a few things planned, so I might not be able to get what I need posted today. Maybe tonight - or tomorrow.

Again, so sorry for "neglecting" the blog - but I promise that there is going to be some pretty great posts coming very soon :)

P.S. I just thought I'd tell you about a weird thing that happened to me yesterday.

I went to the doctor for just a normal, no-stress check-up. Right after one of the nurses checked my blood pressure - she checked my pulse using the "wrist method." Well, all I can tell you is that the nurse had some pretty strong fingers because my wrist is bruised thanks to her checking my pulse! Oh my goodness - it was awful. I didn't want to say anything because she was really concentrated on checking my pulse and even reset her timer a few times because she was "interrupted" by random sounds from the doctor's office. I always thought that to check your pulse, you just count it for a few seconds then multiply that number by 6 (correct me if I'm wrong). Well, I guess this nurse either didn't know that or doesn't know how to multiply.

Can you tell I'm annoyed? *lol*

I probably only got a few hours of sleep last night thanks to the pain in my wrist, and it is still somewhat sore as of today. So, let me warn you all - make sure that when your pulse is checked that you don't get a nurse whose fingers have the force of a hammer!

  1. How awful. I have alway heard to count for 15 seconds then multiply by four or either count to 30 and double it. How crazy.

  5. Happy Birthday!!!! That's crazy about your wrist...I've never heard of people doing it hard. She was probably cutting off your circulation. WEIRD!!! Hope it feels better soon and you enjoy your birthday!!! ;0)

  8. Since I am a nurse, I just had to comment. Normally we check the pulse and count the beats for 15 sec or 30 seconds. Also you can't feel the pulse if you use too much pressure. It doesn't sound like she really was a nurse, perhaps a cna or a tech.

  9. I just got your post today and the date shows you posted yesterday so I hope you had a Great Birthday~!
    I can't imagine getting bruises from a pulse check since normally you can barely feel them touch you. Doesn't sound like a nurse to me either~!
